Economics of Chaos, An Overview
American Consensus
Our entire economy and even elements of our basic society is in Chaos.
Even in chaos, we are still the best society on the planet in many ways
but we could do better. Doing better is what
Economics of Chaos is all about.
This post of the Economics of Chaos Blog is also an introduction
to a group that I am forming. American Consensus; the groups' aim
is to come to grips with our problems and offer solutions to them and
to promote our ideas after a majority of our members have spoken
and agreed on the best course of action.
I will serve as Chair and moderator until someone better and brighter
than me comes along.

Our Founding Fathers were great at compromise and consensus.
In their own time, the Founders were determined to move the new national ideal of a Free and Equitable America forward.
These great men all had strong opinions concerning the crucial challenges and topics of the time
but they managed to form a consensus so that "a more perfect union" could be created.
The American people are again again at a moment in our history at which we need to come together for the Common Good of all and forge solutions to the perplexing problems that we face.
To move forward, it is obvious that some sacrifice is going to be required of all Americans.
We need to start prioritizing our problems and solutions and by consensus affect the changes
that will result in appropriate response.
As a start, we are putting forth what we believe are the most crucial 10 points of contention in our society that are in need of corrective action. We think that a consensus can be reached and a plan of action quickly implemented on how to fix these ten initial problems for all our good now and for the sake of future generations.
Terrorism
Are we safe from internal and external threats? What can we do?
Fix the border problems first. Secondly, tighten up on VISA controls.
How is it that we can track packages and movies but not people?
Government Spending
Most levels of Government are out of control.
What can we do now to fix this problem and save our children's future.
Ireland put into place an across the board budget cut earlier this year.
We need to do the same thing: 10% cut immediately.
Immigration
See my previous blog.
Education
We are failing too many children and they are still being left behind.
Costs are out of control.
Vouchers and clean out the dead wood in the administration
and in the ranks of teachers.
Get back to basics.
Unemployment
A minimum of 10% of Americans do not have work or jobs!
Tax breaks to small businesses would help almost immediately.
Longer term solutions would be to start using tariffs again.
Get out of NAFTA.
Break up the oligopoly type big corporations.
Stop almost every merger unless they can create or save jobs.
Infrastructure
Crumbling and in bad shape.
We need to fix it. Project Specific Bonds;
this I would not mind seeing the Federal Government guarantee.
This would also create a lot of jobs
Energy
We consume too much. We pay bad people for it.
Sources are not secure.
These problems may destroy our economy and way of life.
Pollution
The oil spill. Air Quality in major cities is bad.
Toxic problems and vast spoiled vistas throughout America.
What can we do? Where do we start?
Healthcare
Too expensive. A crazy system.
Too much regulation. See previous Blog.
Religious Freedom
Mosques at Ground Zero.
No Crosses. No respect for traditions.
